 Bio

Katelyn Benton is a singer, songwriter, and pianist whose dreamy and dark alt pop connects the mysterious dots between Debussy and Disney movie soundtracks with an introspective, whimsical touch.

“Soaring vocals and larger than life melodies are exactly what one would expect from a Berklee College of Music graduate and Katelyn Benton definitely does not disappoint…There is sort of a dark quirkiness already evident, almost a Tim Burton-like composition….the stand out moment of the song lies in the chorus, which explodes in a shower of catchy lyrics and an upbeat tempo.” - The Indie Place

In addition to music, Katelyn Benton is passionate about mental health awareness and is an accomplished ultra-marathon runner, completing mountain races with distances between 50-100 miles.

“The knowledge that I can run 100 miles has given me strength on hard days. Ultramarathons taught me that I can trust the strength of my will and I can do anything I set out to do, so long as I keep putting one foot in front of the other.”

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, KB is currently living and working in Los Angeles. Granddaughter to a professional concert pianist, KB began practicing piano as a toddler, sitting next to her grandmother at a Steinway concert grand and continued classical training through high school. At 11-years-old KB began writing original music and performing locally. Throughout high school, KB performed with her band, traveling as far as New York to play The Bitter End. KB was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston where she studied songwriting and music business.

After graduation, KB moved to Los Angeles where she went on to write and work with film composers Scott Nickoley and Ryan Franks. She won the Best Music Video award at the Just Plain Folks awards in Nashville, beating big budget entries including one from Bon Jovi, with the video to her song “Impossible Love”, which cost just $200 to make, and she was featured on the television show FOX Superhuman where she identified songs while wearing noise-cancelling headphones, by watching the hands of Paul Shaffer play the piano. KB was also awarded “Best Original Song” at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Burbank, CA.

KB works as a session vocalist, performs at many of LA’s renowned venues and has had numerous residencies at piano bars and other venues.

“She sings tenderly with such a heartfelt tone that has your whole body relaxed in soothing raptures” - ANR Factory
